JAMMU, Sept 4: ‘Varshiq yagya’ was performed at the historical Asthapan in North Kashmir, Sadhu Ganga Asthapan at Kandi Khass, Kupwara on Ganga Ashtami, which was attended by thousands of devotees from Kashmir, Jammu, Delhi and other places with religious gaiety and fervour.
The yagya was organized by Shree Sadhu Ganga Asthapan Trust’s Working Committee under the supervision of Soom Nath Raina its patron and Radha Krishan Raina, trustee.
The yagya began with a first suhakar and after the completion of five suhakars concluded with puran ahuti, which was followed by a maha bhog.
The devotes organized bhajans and kirtans on the occasion which smacked an ecstatic feeling amongst them. Maha Bhog was served among the devotees in old Kashmiri style to preserve tradition and culture of the community, bringing sense of belongingness among them. As per the custom, people from majority community also attended the yagya and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State. Chhabeels were also organized at the venue to help the devotees quench thirst.
Elaborate security and allied arrangements were made by the Government at the venue.
The organizing committee included Bhushan Lal Raina, Sohan Lal Raina, Chaman Lal Raina, Bal ji Raina, CL Raina, Shuban Lal Raina, Digamber Raina, Sanjay Raina, Omesh Raina, Satish Raina, Ravinder Raina, Ramesh Raina, Bharat Bhushan, Rakesh Raina, Sandeep, Susheel, Rahul, Shaku, Ronit, Satyam, Ricky and Sunil.
