JAMMU, Oct 24: Various political parties have taken strong exception to the statement of Mehbooba Mufti about the National Flag and demanded action against her.
In a statement issued here, today Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Executive Member, Raman Suri, said “Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s displaying dumped flag of erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir after more than a year of the formation of Union Territory, not only shows her political bankruptcy but also establishes that she is trying to instigate youth for violence, who fortunately have understood that their future lies in peace, tranquility and development, not in such moves”.
Suri said that Mehbooba Mufti’s statement asking people to fight for Kashmir cause and not raise any other flag till the flag of erstwhile State is restored is seditious in nature for which she should be booked. This is nothing but immature understanding of the political situation, especially when J&K has moved on.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) slammed former Chief Minister and president P D P, Mehbooba Mufti for her orchestrated remarks for various issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Mehbooba forgets that she and her father had the stints as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and abided by all laws which had been extended by Central Government to Jammu and Kashmir from time to time during their tenure or earlier,” Rajiv Mahajan, convener UDA said in a statement issued here, today.
Saying that BJP has demolished the country’s Constitution and has been implementing anti-people’s acts may be her party’s view, but in practice all the chief ministers of this Northern State have been abiding by the Constitutional provisions which from time to time has been extended to Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said, adding laws and provisions of the Constitution are framed by the Parliament and are extended throughout the country.
The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of its president, Ashok Gupta took out a procession against PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks that she would only hold the Tricolour when the flag of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir is restored.
Led by SSDF president, Ashok Gupta, the protesters holding Tricolour in their hands assembled at Rani Park and raised slogans against the former Chief Minister besides setting ablaze her pictures.
“We will not tolerate anti-national remarks of Kashmiri leaders like Mehbooba and Abdullah (National Conference president, Farooq Abdullah), Prime Minister, Narendra Modi should open the borders and send them to Pakistan and China as they have no place in India’’.
In her first media interaction after her release from 14-month detention in Srinagar on Friday, the PDP president said she was not interested in contesting elections or holding the National Tricolour till the Constitutional changes enforced on August 5 last year were rolled back.
