Various food establishments challaned

JAMMU, July 6: In a week-long inspection drive, a team of Food Safety Officers led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Municipal Limit, Jammu, conducted raids at various food establishments including factory of Pawan Ice Cream and challaned them for unhygienic conditions and violating food safety rules.
The drive was conducted by Food Safety Officers namely Ajay Khajuria, Hans Raj Andotra, Daleep Singh and Pervaiz Ahmed under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Food Safety, Jammu.
The team inspected various food establishments especially Momos shops at Exchange Road, Kachi Chhawni, Amphalla, Nanak Nagar, Paloura and Gandhi Nagar and challaned nine shopkeepers for cooking in insanitary and unhygienic conditions and other contraventions of Food Safety and Standard Act 2006.
Besides this, the Food Safety team also inspected popular eateries like Tasty Treat, Aaradhya Fast Food, Momo.Com at Exchange Road (Jammu), Sharma Dhaba at Sarwal and Ice cream parlours as well as their factories like Public Dairy, Kadbury Ice Cream and Pawan Fruit Ice Cream (Jammu), and challaned them for not following Food Safety rules.
During the drive, the Food Safety Officers closed Bahadur Brothers Fast Food, Nanak Nagar and fined Rs 5000 to the proprietor for insanitary conditions. The food activities of Sunny Chicken Eat Point, Old Janipur were also stopped for two days for violating Food Safety rules. Moreover, samples of Ice cream, Dahi, bakery, whisky (wine) were lifted from many shops and sent to laboratory for testing.
The team also inspected all langers being run for Amarnath pilgrims at Bhagwati Nagar, Railway Station, Geeta Mandir, Mahajan Sabha and lifted samples of rice, dal, spices and edible oils in order to analyze the quality parameters.
