Vanishing Rural Art

Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Vanishing Rural Art and Crafts’ DE Nov 9.
In this era of science and  technology, the rural people are losing their cultural moorings rapidly. There is no aspect of  life which has remained untouched. Rural life in its totality exists only at such values where science and  technology has not made inroads. There are certain areas in our State which are still living in medieval era. What to talk of latest gadgets and appliances, these villages do not have get the basic facility of electricity.
These areas are not even connected to city roads. But those villages which are near urban centres or have access to modern facilities are losing their identity. The people in these villages are adopting new lifestyle. The houses are built according to latest trends and architecture and having all facilities. Thereby rural complexion is gradually fading from the eyes of people.
However, modernity has brought with it new set of problems. As people rush for money and material, they are losing the brotherhood bond. The interdependence of people which was a hallmark of rural communities is also vanishing. People are turning self-dependent and self centered. As a result, it is affecting cultural moorings as well. Arts and crafts are certainly a casuality of the modern approach.
Yours etc…
