SRINAGAR, June 25: In a momentous achievement, Dr Showkat Hussain Tali, Associate Professor of Paediatrics and a renowned Neonatologist at GMC Anantnag, has been bestowed with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Inspirational Award 2023 for his outstanding contributions in the field of Pediatric Medicine and Neonatology.
Dr Tali’s recognition as the ‘Pediatrician and Neonatologist of the Year’ is a testament to his expertise and commitment to advancing medical care for infants and children.
Being the first national board-certified neonatologist from Kashmir, he has pioneered several advancements in Pediatrics and neonatology, significantly impacting the healthcare landscape.
He currently serves as the Vice-president of NNF-J&K and played a key role as the chief organizing secretary of North Zone Neocon-2023. This event, a pioneering initiative in J&K after 65 years, brought together neonatology experts and showcased the latest advancements in the field.
Dr Tali’s research work has gained international recognition, with presentations in countries such as the USA, UK, Japan, the European Union, and the Middle East. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Archives of Paediatrics and Neonatology and a contributing author to the renowned Textbook of Clinical Neonatology.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr Tali has been honoured with several accolades, including the National Research Talent Award 1997, the Creative Writing Award by Help Foundation and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation 2006, the EET-CRS Young Faculty Award 2017, First Position Award for Paper Presentation at the 7th Arab Neonatal Care Conference in Dubai 2017, Emerging Professional of India Award 2022, Best Young Researcher Award for 2022, Global Ikon Award 2023, Appreciation Award by WHO State Branch 2022, Best Book Award for the year 2021, and a nomination for the Venous Health Care Awards 2023 Chennai.
