JAMMU, Feb 11: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH) has saved the life of a 62-year old Tika Poudal, from Nepal, who had suffered massive heart attack during the pilgrimage track of the Cave Shrine.
Poudal had come to Katra along with her daughter Binita Poudal and Pankaj Mishra but she suffered a heart attack on her way to Bhawan. She was given first aid on the yatra route and was immediately referred to SMVDNSH for further treatment. When she reached SMVDNSH at Kakryal, her condition was very critical.
Dr. Nikhil Mahajan, Associate Consultant Cardiology, SMVDNSH said, “The patient came with the history of severe heart attack and her heartbeat had stopped. CPR was performed to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing of the patient to keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs until more definitive medical treatment can restore a normal heart rhythm. Once the heartbeat was restored, stenting was immediately performed to open the blocked artery of the patient and stop the recurrence of a heart attack.”
Dr. Rakesh Sahni, Facility Director SMVDNSH, commented, “All pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra are given free treatment at the hospital in case of any medical eventuality or ailment.
