JAMMU, Apr 26: Terming Amarnath Vaishnavi a symbol of National School of Thought, who presented an example of an alternative way of life, BJP National Executive Member and State spokesperson, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that the late leader worked in adverse circumstances to strengthen the nationalist forces in the State throughout his life.
Speaking at the release & screening of documentary Jaikara -profile for progeny on the life history of veteran leader Amarnath Vaishnavi here this afternoon, he said at the time when nationalist society in the State has been subjugated to develop slavish mentality, Vaishnavi showed the path for leading a life with dignity and self respect without striking compromises for short time interest.
The documentary on Vaishnavi was produced by Prof Virender Rawal which depicts the role of RSS ideologue and one of the founders of nationalist movement in J&K.
Dr Jitendra Singh urged upon the State authorities to give official recognition to Vaishnavi’s legacy through Government participation in the programme commemorating his memory otherwise a negative message will go across that while on one hand the present ruling dispensation gives legitimacy to public figures like Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah it is expressing bias against Vaishnavi Ji and his genre of public figures.
Congratulating the Vyeth for making a film which has immortalized Vaishnavi Ji, he advised that there should be an attempt to form a study centre devoted to research on thought and works of Vaishnavi Ji for inspiration of future generations.
Dr Jitendra Singh said it was God’s will that Vaishnavi Ji should do selfless service to the society as he was born in 1925 when the RSS was founded by a great visionary Dr Hedgewar.
The function started with welcome note of chairman Vyeth Dr K N Dhar which was followed by its founder president Prof Virender Rawal. On the occasion chief patron of Vyeth and MLC Vijay Bakaya and BJP legislative party leader Ashok Khajuria presented nomination certificate of Film Ashaayein on behalf of Jaipur International Film Festival Jaipur to the team of Vyeth.
This was followed by presentation of memento to renowned artist Makhan Lal Saraf.
The documentary highlights the role of Vaishnavi as RSS ideologue, Praja Parishad and Jan Sangh leader and his struggle on the call of then Jana Sangh president, Dr Shama Prashad Mookerjee to break the permit system for which he was also jailed.
The documentary also tells how Vaishanvi Ji served the community as well as nation till his last death. Whether it was settling his community members in camps after their mass exodus in 1989-90 and getting their day to day problems redressed or seeking admission for their wards in professional colleges in other parts of the country Vaishnavi Ji played a leading role.
Dr Ashok Bhan former DG, Dr K L Chowdhary a renowned scholar, Ashwani Chrungoo, president PK, Dr Agnishekhar, convener PK, HL Chatta, president ASKPC, Swami Kumar Ji, A K Raina vice president AIKS , Naina Saproo a well known singer and many others were present on the occasion.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Anita Razdan, secretary Vyeth while proceedings were conducted by Kusum Tickoo.
