Vaid highlights importance of health awareness

ADGP SP Vaid inaugurating multi-speciality medical camp at Gulshan Ground on Tuesday.

JAMMU, Apr 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a two day multi speciality medical camp and awareness programme at Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground here today.
The camp is being organized in collaboration with Medanta – the Medicity, New Delhi based Hospital.
Hundreds of police personnel and their family members were checked by a team of doctors having specialization in cardiology, urology, neurology breast cancer, diabetic, endocrine and orthopaedics. The team of doctors was assisted by para-medical staff of New Delhi based Hospital. The team of specialists was also assisted by the doctors of police hospital.
On the occasion awareness and talk discussion on different topics with regard to maintain the healthy body and mental fitness was organized and the specialists highlighted the symptoms and causes of the diseases with prevention.
Additional Director General of Police Headquarters, (ADGP), S.P. Vaid was the chief guest at the function.
In his address, Mr. Vaid said that the medical and awareness programme has been organized by the department with the aim to benefit the retired and serving police personnel and their families. He said that the Organization has under taken different welfare schemes for police personal and health care is one of them.
He said a policeman always remains out of his home in connection with professional duties and has lesser time to consult specialists for check up. This is an opportunity provided for them which should be availed, he stressed. “We have established two police hospitals at Srinagar and Jammu to provide free health care to the police personnel and their families. These police hospitals are fully equipped with latest diagnostic equipments and medicines are provided as per requirement free of cost,” he disclosed.
The ADGP said that the awareness programme is a part of our health care scheme in which the doctors would provide free advice and assistance to the police personnel to maintain their health. He said that a healthy policeman can perform his duties effectively and can be posted in any field facing hostile weather and law and order situations. It is always our priority to take care of the health of our personnel and their families to make the force more effective in every field of policing, said the ADGP.
Among others, the function was attended by ADGP Armed SM Sahai, IGPs HK Lohia, SJM Geelani, PR Manhas, SS Khandare and Rajesh Kumar, DIGs T. Punchok, Surinder Kumar and Johny William, General Secy. J&K Red Cross, Roma Wani, SSP Crime Jammu Nissar Ahmad, Commandants of Armed/IRP Bns and other Police officers.
