The Holy Gita, has left hardly any topic concerning the universe and all its creatures which it has not touched and explained eloquently , logically and scientifically . We know that medical profession, noble , sensitive and fully service oriented is based on scientific knowledge , training and skills. Medical profession is such a great profession that it continuously requires learning and acquiring knowledge on perpetual basis, new finds, new experiments, researches and discoveries to be acquainted with. Holy Gita lays increasing stress on pursuits of knowledge and praises it. Chapter 4 , verse 34 says “tad viddhi pranipatena pariprashnena sevaya ;upadekshyanti te gyanam gyaninas tattva darsinha ” or attempting to interpret “try to understand the basic true nature of knowledge , the truth about things by approaching learned and illumined master. Ask him submissively and render service of respect and gratitude to him. The self -realised souls can impart knowledge to you because they have ”seen” the truth.” In other words, No one can realize the truth by manufacturing his own process because that is the fashion of the foolish pretenders. Again, in the same Chapter in verse 40 ,the Holy Book says, “Ignorant, arrogant and faithless persons who doubt, do not attain good consciousness, they are sure to fall down and remember, for those who keep on doubting , there is happiness neither in this world nor in the next.”
Are our Doctors and scientists any less in knowledge than their counterparts in other advanced countries? Are our Doctors and scientists not entitled to be respected , trusted and encouraged ? Have our Doctors , para -medical staff and scientists not shown their mettle , dexterity and impeccable courage and integrity in dealing with entirely a new, unheard of and treacherous pandemic of COVID -19 and treated the patients with available infrastructure risking and even losing their lives ? Have these Doctors and scientists all these months when the pandemic was at its peak, ever complained from their hospitals, laboratories and other related health institutions about fatigue , homesickness or exhibited any fear while dealing with the patients? Did they demand from us any clapping, any reward, any financial incentives or any material gain for undertaking treatment of the infected patients? And if the country’s leader -the Prime Minister asks the countrymen to gently bang thalis or any such thing or blow conches from terraces and rooftops or from streets for a few minutes as a token of gratitude to these messiahs and saviours of humans in misery, why should it trouble so precariously the pseudo secular gangs, dynast politicians, so called democrats and liberals – not to speak of Tukday Tukday Gang and design journalists , urban Naxals and sworn habitual critics ? And now, India’s two indigenous anti COVID vaccines believed to be equally effective , if not more but safer than of other countries have become choicest objects of ridiculing the Prime Minister and the BJP to an extent that these vaccines prepared by burning lot of midnight oil by our scientists, are made objects of slander and hit by jabs . A few ”leaders” from the Samajwadi Party call Swadeshi vaccines as ”BJP” vaccine and fears are planted in the people openly on National TV Channels that these Indian manufactured vaccines could lead to impotency . A Congress leader mocks it by saying , “jingoism is no substitute for common sense”. He said it despite clear cut and unambiguous policy of not introducing the vaccine without completion of phase 3 clinical trials. Two vaccines Covishield and Covaxin indigenously manufactured having been conditionally approved by Government of India, have become political football for opportunist politicians who are sore and upset only at the prospects of Narendra Modi making it to 2024 a smooth and a comparatively better sail for another five year term to be the “Pradhan Sewak” of this country and probably , the feat of the two indigenously manufactured vaccines by our able scientists could contribute towards that “happening”. Only that is the problem, that is the fear, that is the ”objection” and that is the scare too . There is a proverb which says something like ” Do not ever thieve and, therefore, do not get scared of the thieved”.
It is, therefore, really becoming increasingly ludicrous to see to what extent some opposition parties can go in hating Modi but in the process, they are willy -nilly denigrating and undermining the interests of the country. On everything the Government does, every step taken in the right direction by it, any law enacted with intent to bring about reforms and ensuring growth , every idea put to practice and implemented for the betterment of the people must all be opposed, shown in poor and cheap taste and doubly ensured that misinformation campaign was spread to the hilt, doubts must be sown to ”reap” political dividends and mess, confusion and unrest created. Even for achieving that purpose, if the brave and apolitical but dedicated Army Chief even is called as “sadak ka Gunda”, no problem; if surgical strikes and Army spokesperson’s (detailed) brief are doubted and made to travel across the borders that is all their ”democratic right” and if for achieving those ends, CAA is not only opposed but people incited for “Aar Paar Key Ladaie” and “Garoon Say Bahar Niklo” and motivated and organised ill conceived movement like Shaheen Bagh is legitimatized and even lent all support, it is all done in ”exercising” the Right to free speech .
If some women are asked to join the farmers’ stir at New Delhi border and organised to hold Red flags and beat chests to sing in chorus bad and uncouth words by name for the Prime Minister , it is their constitutional right. Now, farmers are told “not to go back or else you can never stand up ” and waiting are in wings such politicians to see lest this stir concludes peacefully and those on “protest” return home happily and it is tried hard to keep it simmering and protracting . At the same time, such politicians claim that they do not sleep during nights due to the “Chinta” of farmers and how the “country could be saved” from the three Black Laws. Hypocrisy and duplicity at peak , all under the name of same democracy .
Even COVID-19 pandemic and the disaster it wrought worldwide and to a large extent as wide and intense as in the USA , France, UK , Spain and other advanced countries but not as much in India too must be fully ”used” to discredit the present government. Lockdown was avoidable, why lockdown, Modi is doing nothing about the pandemic, labourers and poor- are dying of hunger and made to face tremendous difficulties , “Modi Ji, when shall we have access to vaccines”, asks Rahul Gandhi , even when there was a zilch about it anywhere in the world but when we are shortly going to tailor schemes and the procedure of universal vaccination, there should be all types of manufacturing of falsehood, misinformation and the grapevine about the vaccine . Chicken are counted before they are hatched or the Desi proverb which says , ”Ghar main na soote na kapaas , julahey say lathum lathaa”, In the process, the entire fraternity of Indian scientists and Doctors are questioned, their ability , competence and integrity are made doubtful . They are being run down in the process of targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that is the tragedy.
World’s one of the biggest vaccination programme is being not only sought to be trivialised and mocked but Indian vaccines Covishield and Covaxin are projected in apprehensive and doubtful form even though Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) approved the Subject Expert Committee’s recommendations for emergency use of these two Indian vaccines. In the case of Covaxin, efficacy data is being generated during phase -3 of human clinical trials. Real apprehensions and doubts must be and are being looked into and taken care of. In this connection , the Director of AIIMS too has allayed fears and genuine fears, again, must undoubtedly but meticulously be removed. It is again a travesty that despite scientific bodies and governmental agencies associated with the indigenous vaccines having clarified the entire position to put at rest misgivings with intent to dispel ”doubts”, some opposition parties have shockingly chosen to politicise the issue which goes repugnant to the stand of even the WHO .
We have, thus, become objects of ridicule internationally due to such perverted stand taken on the most sensitive issue by some opposition parties to present on platter material to foreign media to show India down when we have the occasion to showcase our scientific knowledge and skills to the world. India is otherwise known to be home to manufacturing of vaccines for the last four decades and at the moment, when the nation celebrates, some opposition leaders are sulking , drooping and wilting. Scepticism should genuinely be real and cogent, not political nor with an agenda. Potential to go to international markets may also not be sought to be undermined . COVID-19 pandemic and dependence on China for almost everything of daily use practiced over decades in this country have taught us the efficacy and importance of going self reliant or Atmanirbhar . Doubts, again, must be cleared but in that garb, vaccination drive shouldn’t get weakened, that would mean India getting weakened – Can we afford that?
