JAMMU, Mar 4: Assuring the Upper House to further improve education system in the State besides considering suggestions of the Members, the Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone said that monitoring mechanism would be made more effective at all levels.
Mr Lone was replying to the discussion on the working of Education and Higher Education Departments in the Legislative Council today.
The Minister said that besides upgradation of schools, scores of new schools and colleges were opened in the State. He said schemes like SSA and RMSA helped create better educational infrastructure in the State.
Mr lone said Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was particular about the spread of education and expansion of educational infrastructure, adding that Sheikh Sahib used to personally visit educational institutions and interact with students and teachers.
He said that academic arrangements have been made to ensure availability of teachers; meanwhile, vacant posts have been referred to the recruiting agencies. He said 1800 posts would be advertised this year and the process has been started by the department.
The Minister said that the 10+2 teachers posted in Ladakh region who have completed their term, would be transferred back shortly.
Regarding imparting moral education to the students, the Minister said it is the collective responsibility of teachers, parents and the society to sensitize children about our core values.
