DEHRADUN, July 5: In a rare moment, when heavy downpour was lashing the city, Uttarakhand’s Governor, Lt Gen, Gurmeet Singh set a great example of his devotion and love for Sanskrit by making his way to Shivnath Sanskrit College for its hostel inauguration that was built at the cost of Rs 50 lakh provided by Tarun Vijay’s MPLADs funds.
In his impressive speech that was applauded 27 times in its 30 minute duration Governor praised the contribution of Tarun Vijay to serve cause of Sanskrit and presented him a plaque of honour appreciating his yeoman services to the noble cause of Sanskrit. He said in our Sikh scriptures Sanskrit has a place of pride. “In Ik Onkar , the Onkar is from Sanskrit. Guru Gobind Singh Ji deputed Sikhs to Kashi to learn Sanskrit and they were called Nirmala. I can say if one has to understand Sikhism, Sanskrit helps immensely’’.
Tarun Vijay, in his speech complimented the Governor and said Sanskrit Colleges must be the best and most sought after in Uttarakhand that has given it a place of second official language. Ironically not much has been done. He lauded efforts and assurances of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Education Minister, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat to support Sanskrit education.
