UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: Jal Shakti (PHE) Employees & Workers Association president and noted trade union leader Som Nath today alleged that UT Government was deliberately delaying the genuine and legitimate issues of the daily wage workers of the department.
Addressing executive body meeting of the Association at PHE Complex Udhampur today, Som Nath criticized the attitude of UT Govt and alleged that it was deliberately delaying the genuine, long pending demands of the daily wagers and moreover, PHE higher authorities adopted the anti-worker policy. He said even the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha made commitment with the Association leaders long time back but failed to honour his commitment.
Som Nath said that thousands of daily wagers are waiting for justice since long and time and again they are constituting the time bound committees but they are not doing anything for the workers in actual. This is very shameful on the part of J&K UT authorities. They are just buying time and befooling the workers. Various long pending genuine demands were highlighted in the meeting.
He demanded that CP/ITI/Land Case Workers who have completed 7 years in service should be regularized immediately and pending wages of nearly 70 months of the PHE workers be released without any more delay,
Som Nath further demanded that Minimum Wages Act be implemented in J&K UT and Government must pay Rs 450 per day to the unskilled workers, Rs 575 to skilled workers and Rs 835 per day to the highly skilled worker. He said DPC of all the cadres be conducted in the department as employees are facing stagnation and adequate staff be deployed at the water stations and the respective offices of the PHE.
Trade Union leader appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, to intervene in the matter and solve the pending issues of the PHE workers.
Senior members Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Puran Chand, Shambu Dutt, Parveen Sharma, Sandhokh Chand and Karan Singh also spoke on the occasion.
