JAMMU, Sept 8: Municipal & Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (J&K) has alleged that Govt of Union Territory of J&K was causing unnecessary delay in extending the benefit of Medical Allowance of Rs 1000 per month equal to other UTs and Central Government employees, to the pensioners and employees in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of B S Jamwal, the members expressed strong resentment over the attitude of the J&K UT Administration which has been avoiding to pay the Medical Allowance of Rs 1000 per month to the employees and pensioners in J&K. They pointed out that this benefit is being granted in other UTs and to the Central Govt employees and pensioners since 2016 but till date the employees and pensioners of J&K and Ladakh remained ignored.
They said after August 5, 2019, all the Central laws/ rules were extended to the J&K but why this benefit was not accorded to the J&K. They demanded that UT Administration must grant Rs 1000 Medical Allowance in J&K without any delay and all the due arrears since Aug 5, 2019 should also be paid to the employees and pensioners. They also demanded pending DA installments of 18 months in favour of employees and pensioners.
It is pertinent to mention here that employees and pensioners are being paid just Rs 300 per month as Medical Allowance in J&K and no hike has been extended for the last over 15 years. Various employees and pensioners unions and association are demanding hike since long but the Govt has remained unmoved.
