DUBAI, Feb 2: In celebration of the colours of Indian art, the Consulate General of India, Dubai, organised a Hindustani classical music performance by Ustad Maqbool Khan and his prodigal son Zeeshan Khan.
This was the first event under a new initiative – Indradhanush. Under this new series, CGI, Dubai will organise cultural performances of different forms of Indian art, ranging from Hindustani music to Carnatic music to different forms of Indian dance to even cinematic music.
The father-son duo of Ustad Maqbool Husain Khan and Zeeshan Khan enthralled the audience with their beautiful rendition of songs in different raagas.
Ustad Maqbool Husain Khan hails from a family of great legendary musicians the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana. He was also associated with the legendary music director Naushad Ali for a very long time. Zeeshan Khan won the first ever Indian Idol of Indian Classical Music.
Meanwhile, Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with India Social & Cultural Centre & Gujarati Samaj, Abu Dhabi, will organise a ‘Raas’ performance by ‘Ambawadi Kalabrinda Beda Raas’ group on February 4, it has been announced. (AGENCIES)
