USTA threatens stir if Govt fails to concede demands

KATHUA, Feb 8: J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) has threatened stir if the State Government does not concede demands of the teachers.
While addressing a press conference, here today, USTA provincial president Hari Singh highlighted the demands, which include; releasing salary of teachers working under SSA on monthly basis and clear long pending arrears.
He also appealed the Government to clear time -bound promotion cases and pending files for permission to enhance education, regularize ReT teachers who have completed five years of service, transfer policy for married regularized ReT female teachers, debar opening of GPE accounts of teachers working under NPS,  confirm the services of teachers who have completed two years,  debar teachers from non-academic duties including elections,  fill vacant posts of Masters, Lecturers, Headmasters etc through DPC and  withdraw Rs 5000 from NIOS account deposited as DEELD fee in favour of graduate and post-graduate teachers.
USTA president also criticized the Central Government for not enhancing income tax slab in favour of Government employees and teachers.
He stressed upon the State Government of concede to their demands at an earliest otherwise teachers would  be compelled to resort to agitational path.
Press conference was also addressed by Rajiv Kumar, Roop Chand and Zulfkar Ali Malik, general secretary, district Kathua president and  Secretary,  respectively of J&K United School Teachers Association.
