Use invaluable experiences for advancement of society: Governor to pensioners

JAMMU, Dec 17: Mr. N.N. Vohra, Governor, participated in the celebration of the 32nd National Pensioners’ Day programme which was organized by the Central Government Pensioner’s Welfare Association here today.
The Governor complimented the Pensioners’ Association for running a versatile organisation which looks after the interests of the pensioners and, besides, is actively involved in carrying out varied activities which promote social welfare.
He suggested that the Association could consider utilizing its valuable collective wisdom, comprising the lifelong experiences of its eminent members, to serve as a vital element of the civil society, to advance the interests of the people at large. It could also help the Government in carrying out pressing reforms in governance system of our country.
On the occasion, a power point presentation on the activities of Central Government Pensioner’s Welfare Association, with special reference to Natural Hazards in J&K, was made by V.P. Sharma, Patron of the Pensioner’s Welfare Association, Jammu.
The welcome address and the formal vote of thanks were presented by S.S. Wazir, President and B.K. Raina, Vice President of the Association respectively.
