US condemns terrorist attack in Pakistan

WASHINGTON, Dec 30:    The US has condemned the Taliban attack outside a regional government office in Pakistan that killed at least 26 people, calling it unacceptable and contrary to the aspirations of the Pakistani people.
“We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims of today’s violence,” said Mark Toner, the State Department Deputy Spokesman.
A young Taliban suicide bomber yesterday blew himself up outside a crowded government office in Pakistan’s restive northwest, killing at least 26 people and injuring nearly 60 others, in one of the deadliest attacks since the Peshawar school carnage that left over 150 dead.
Condemning the attack, Toner said: “The United States remains committed to the people of Pakistan and to the Pakistani Government’s efforts to fight terrorism.”
“Such blatant disregard for human life is unacceptable and contrary to the aspirations of the Pakistani people for a secure and stable and prosperous nation,” Toner said. (PTI)
