Urgent steps needed to create jobs for youth in J&K: Tarigami

NEW DELHI, July 23: CPI(M) leader Mohd Yusuf Tarigami today sought urgent measures by the Government to create job opportunities for the youth in Jammu and Kashmir and further steps to strengthen Indo-Pak ties through dialogue process.

Tarigami, CPI(M)’s J&K Secretary, who called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here, also suggested that the Government take additional confidence-building measures with Pakistan.

After meeting Singh, he said that he particularly stressed on expeditious steps to create job opportunities for the youth in the state who were facing large-scale unemployment. “The situation is very serious and there is an urgent need to attend to it on a war-footing,” he said.

Tarigami, who was here to attend the CPI(M)’s Central Committee meeting, said he had also urged the Prime Minister to take the initiative to strengthen the composite dialogue process with Pakistan.

He said confidence-building measures like enhancing cross-border trade should be taken. (PTI)
