UDHAMPUR, Sept 17: Stressing that upliftment of labour class is pivotal for the socio-economic development of the country, Ranbir Singh Pathania MLA Ramnagar said that society needs to recognize and value their hard work.
MLA Ramnagar was speaking during one day awareness-cum-cheque distribution camp organized by Labour Department at Mansar. During the camp an amount of Rs 31,79,891 was disbursed among the registered construction workers under buildings and other workers welfare board.
Pathania said that from the first instant, he has taken keen interest in empowering the labour class and various welfare measures are afoot in this regard. He stated that the main aim of the camp was to educate the working section about their rights and their protection.
He stressed upon the unregistered labourers to register themselves for availing the benefits of schemes meant for welfare, upliftment and providing a financial security to the labour class as well as their families.
Pathania said that for education of wards of workers an assistance of Rs 2500 to Rs 10000 is being provided for lower education, Rs 15000 for post-graduation, Rs 30000 for three year diploma courses and Rs 50000 for professional courses. Department also provides marriage assistance to the tune of Rs 25000 and an assistance of Rs 1 lakh for chronic diseases to the registered construction workers. Assistance is also being provided in death cases to the extent of Rs 2 lakh and an additional amont of Rs 5000 for funeral rituals to the next of kin of the deceased labourer.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Renu Bala Saini and Labour-Officer Arif also briefed the gathering about welfare schemes, labour laws and also answered the various queries raised by the workers and labourers.
Amit Sharma and others also addressed the gathering and threw light on various aspects of labour laws, reforms, industrial dispute redressal act and others topics.
