Upgradation work of drainage system kick-started in Ward 42

JAMMU, Dec 28: Vijay Choudhary, Corporator of Ward-42, today kick-started the work of construction and upgradation of the drainage system in Sector-1, Lane Number-9 of the Ward.
At the cost of approximately 7.50 lakhs, the work was started in the presence of Choudhary Manmohan Singh, AEE JMC Ashok Sharma and Junior Engineer Manjot Singh.
Choudhary informed the gathering that the black toping of every lane and by-lane in her Ward has been completed within two years of her tenure except lane number-10. She said black topping and construction of the drain of the lane lane number 10 is under process for tender.
She assured the residents that in the coming summer season it would be started and completed on priority. She told the gathering that the upgradation work of drainage system of lane numbers 5, 6 and 7 has also been completed on the request of the local residents from her allotted funds.
Choudhary assured the local residents that all the choked and damaged drains will be repaired in the coming days. The locals raised some problems regarding sanitation in the sub lanes. Corporator immediately directed the concerned supervisor to take necessary action and asked him to visit the lane and sub lane daily to access progress of the sanitation system.
Ch Manmohan Singh said that it is not just the duty of sanitation staff but people should feel responsible too of the area they live in. “It is upon each of us as a citizen to contribute to the welfare of our surroundings. There are some basic rules and mannerisms which all of us should follow,” he added.
