SRINAGAR, Apr 10: Secretary, Union Ministry of Tourism, Arvind Singh today called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan.
Union Secretary and the Lt Governor discussed about various initiatives being taken by the Tourism Department for development and enhancing tourism prospects in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor observed that the UT Government is working on unlocking the vast tourism potential of J&K.
Comprehensive measures are being taken to revive the tourism industry and socio-economic development of all those associated with the sector by providing them with better avenues and livelihood opportunities, he added.
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Tourism, J&K and Dr. G N Itoo, Director, Tourism, Kashmir were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, several deputations of various public representatives and Dental Surgeon Association called on Lieutenant Governor.
A deputation led by DDC Member, Block Khanmoh, Er. Ajaz Hussain put forth different developmental issues pertaining to the Khanmoh area. They also raised the issue with regard to environment clearance of brick kilns.
Councilor Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Danish Bhat also called on the Lt Governor and raised several developmental issues pertaining to his ward.
Similarly, District President BJP, Anantnag, Manzoor Ahmad Khan submitted a memorandum of issues with regard to completion of various government approved projects at Rambirpora Mattan, Anantnag including Water supply scheme, construction of hospital besides establishing a fruit complex in the area.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Dental Surgeon Association led by its President, Dr Samir Masoodi projected various issues pertaining to creation of posts of Dental Surgeons and other concerning issues.
With regard to the SEHAT scheme, they underscored the need of bringing dentistry under Golden card benefits.
The Lieutenant Governor gave patient hearing to all the deputations and assured that all the genuine issues of public concerns would be looked into on priority.
He also urged the public representatives to continue their sustained endeavours for the welfare of the people.
