Union Minister reviews J&K security

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed various aspects of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and asked authorities to strengthen measures to check infiltration.

The Minister was briefed on different issues relating to the State by senior officers of the Department of Jammu and Kashmir Affairs.

The security review included issues like, strengthening of fence along the border, rehabilitation of surrendered militants, different migrant groups staying in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiri migrants who had been displaced from the valley.

Developmental Projects and PM’s Reconstruction Plan taken up in J&K were also discussed.     Schemes such as ‘Udaan’ for the skill upgradation of the youth for improving their employability also came up for discussion.

Mr Singh asked the officers to ensure that the measures taken up for checking the infiltration were further strengthened.

He also desired the Ministry to take the Kashmiri migrants into confidence and work on the measures that should be taken up for their return to the valley.  (AGENCIES)
