JAMMU, Oct 6: The Ministry of Labour, Government of India has justified the action of Leighton Western Contractors Private Limited working on construction of tunnel on National Highway at Chenani, Udhampur in not accepting the demands of the J&K State Construction of Tunnel and Four Lane Road Workers Union.
While disposing the case regarding the dispute between the management and the Union the Ministry has made it clear that prima facie it does not consider this dispute fit for adjudication.
In its ruling the Ministry stated “ The action of the management of M/s Leighton Western Contractors Pvt Ltd, Lower Manda village Gujard, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur in not accepting the demands of the Union is justified’’.
The case came to Ministry after the failure of conciliation by Regional Conciliation officer could not make the amicable settlement of dispute between the Union representatives and management of the Company.
