Union Govt committed to achieve self reliance in defence: Sitaraman

VISAKHAPATNAM: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Union Government was committed for achieving self reliance in the defence sector on the concept of ‘Make in India’ and taking all measures in this regard.

Addressing the gathering after commissioning the third ship of the P28 class anti-submarine warfare corvette INS Kiltan at the Naval Dockyard Here today, she said the Union Government was fully prepared to provide necessary funds  for the defenec sector for enhance its capabilities and to achieve self reliance.

The Defence Minister said the INS Kiltan, indigeneously built  war ship by the Garden Reach Ship Builders land Engineers, Kolkatta marks another milestone in the indian navy’s modernization and capability enhancement plans.

Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Indian navy has been playing a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting Indian’s maritime security and interest and also actively participating in rescue and relief operations during the natural calamities.  (AGENCIES)
