NEW DELHI, Feb 1: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the Union Budget presented in the Parliament today reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s close “connect” with the common man of India.
Speaking to media persons immediately after the presentation of the Budget by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, Dr Jitendra Singh said, this is a budget which could have only been conceived and visualized by a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi, who has lived through the hardship and constraints of lower middle class. He said, the relief provided to the salaried class by way of increasing the tax-exemption limit as well as the Standard Deduction limit will be universally welcomed by all sections of society across the country.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the enhanced budget of Rs.3,00,000 crore for Defence not only reflects the Modi Government’s respect for the Defence Personnel, but also the concern for States like Jammu & Kashmir and Northeast which have been a witness to security related problems. He said, the special focus on farmers, elder citizens and healthcare issues was never witnessed in any of the earlier budgets.
This is a budget, Dr Jitendra Singh said, which could come only from a Government which is rooted to the reality of India.
Meanwhile, in another function today, Dr Jitendra Singh presented Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) “Rajbhasha Hindi Awards” to the officials who had excelled in maximum use of Hindi language in day-to-day office work.
Speaking on the occasion after handing over the awards, Dr Jitendra Singh said, over the last five years, the use of Hindi in official work has increased manifold and the most satisfying aspect of it is that this change has happened by motivation and not by imposition. Another encouraging change witnessed now is that many of those officials who earlier thought in English even though they wrote in Hindi, have now began to think in Hindi and also write in Hindi, he said.
