NEW DELHI: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today said security forces in the country are performing their duties, including in border areas, and they are not differentiated on the basis of religion.

Addressing a function organised by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony at the National Police Memorial here, he said they all are providing security in the border areas.

“The uniform does not differentiate the security forces on the basis of religion,” he said.

The programme was organised as part of activities being organised on the occasion of ‘Communal Harmony Week’ being observed from November 19-25, 2016.

Students from various schools representing different religious communities participated in the function, during which they presented various programmes including religious songs, speeches and patriotic songs.

Rijiju appealed to the students to spread the message of communal harmony in all parts of the country when they go back. (AGENCIES)
