Jammu, Jan 28: Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque, UNICEF Country Representative, India today met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at Raj Bhavan.
Dr. Haque and the Lt Governor talked about the Country programme of UNICEF and their execution in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the advancement of rights and development of children, adolescents and women; promoting primary education, gender equality and women empowerment; reducing child mortality; improving maternal health; combating deadly diseases; ensuring environmental sustainability and increasing public awareness in this regard.
Lt Governor highlighted the achievements of J&K in these areas and the steps being taken by the J&K Administration to meet the obligations enumerated in the UNICEF Charter. He assured UT Government’s full cooperation in effective implementation of public welfare programmes of the UNICEF.
Meanwhile, Binod Kumar Mishra, General Manager, State Bank of India (SBI), Chandigarh Circle also called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Mishra briefed the Lt Governor about SBI’s functioning in providing reliable banking services to its customers in J&K.
Lt Governor observed that the entire banking sector has a key role to play towards promoting economic growth and overall development of the country.
