Unemployed youth should become self-dependent: Balbir

JAMMU, May 21: Stressing upon the unemployed youth to be self-dependent instead of becoming burden on their families, Vice Chairperson, J&K Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that Government agencies are working towards socio-economic empowerment of the poor, the weaker sections and the deserving people should come forward to avail the benefits of their welfare schemes.
Balbir Ram Rattan said this during his interaction with a group of unemployed youth belonging to Muslim and Sikh communities, which fall under minorities category.
Balbir told these youth that Muslims and Sikhs are also included in the list of national level Notified Minorities and hence there are welfare schemes for them like other reserved categories, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, physically disabled persons and those of Safai Karamcharis.
He said that J&K SCs, STs, BCs Development Corporation is a channelizing agency of the Apex Corporations of Union Government, which provides loan to the unemployed persons of the said categories to set up own earnings units. The Corporation also has the facility of education loan and any meritorious student from the reserved categories can avail its benefits.
The Vice Chairperson further told these members of the minorities community that the Corporation provides financial assistance in the form of loan under direct financing scheme, in collaboration with National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, which works exclusively for notified national minorities like Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist, Christians, Parsis & Jains and whosoever fulfills the laid down criteria is eligible for availing the benefits of the schemes.
