Undertrial dies of heart-attack

KATHUA, Mar 13: A 35-year-old undertrial, who was arrested in connection with a narcotic smuggling case, today died allegedly of heart-attack, a police officer said.
“Hardeep Singh was arrested by Kathua police last year after several kilograms of poppy husk was recovered from his truck,” a police officer said.
Singh was booked under various Sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and was undertrial at a Kathua court, police said.
“He was taken to the hospital where doctors tried to revive him, but they could not save him,” the officer said.
Police informed his family members and handed over the dead body to them after postmortem.
A case under Section 176 has been registered in Police Station Kathua in this regard, police said.
