Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘J&K MPs fail to utilize over Rs 34 cr MPLAD funds’ DE Mar 15 one wonders why Members of Parliament (MPs) from Jammu and Kashmir failed to utilize MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPADS) funds meant for development of their respective constituencies. The non-utilization of these funds betrays their disinterest and lack of concern for welfare of people.
This money could have been used for creating road network in rural areas where most of the villages do not have any connectivity with towns and cities.
Besides, there is need to upgrade health centres which lack buildings and other infrastructure. Electricity which is an essential components of life is nowhere in sight in villages. Some village have yet to get electricity. Non-availability of water is a grave problem in rural areas. People there are compelled to use contaminated water for drinking and cooking purposes. While people in rural areas are suffering badly on account of absence of basic amenities, it does not occur to our elected representatives to spend this money for these items. The non-utilization of money tantamounts to breach of trust which people pose in them.
Yours etc….
