MENDHAR, Nov 23: Due to lack of cover on the newly constructed drain in Mendhar town, today a major accident was averted.
Reports said there are daily accidents due to lack of cover over the drain in the main market square opposite the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, which is being ignored by the administration.
Today, at around 1 am a Tata Sumo got stuck in the drain. All the passengers of Tata Sumo were safe, meanwhile, the vehicle was taken out with the help of nearby people.
Local shopkeepers Ajay Sahni, Gagan Deep Singh, Ravinder Kumar, Amit Sahni, Balram Sharma and others attributed this to the lack of concern by the Rural Development Department. They said everyday there is an accident, we have told the employees of the concerned department and the local Sarpanch many times including the administrative officials, but the issue was ignored.
People have invited attention of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav into the matter so that these avoidable accidents are prevented.
