JAMMU: Union Minister for Water Resources and River Development Uma Bharti today formally launched the scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana’ here.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Bharti said that this scheme will be implemented in mission mode and shall cover both urban and rural households.
She also highlighted various features of the scheme like Universal access to banking, Basic Banking accounts with overdraft of up to 5000, RuPay debit card and accident insurance cover of one lakh, Financial Literacy, Creation of credit guarantee fund for coverage of defaults in overdraft accounts, Micro Insurance (second phase), Pension scheme Swavlamban for unorganised sector (second phase), proposal to channel all Government benefits to the beneficiaries through accounts, and a demand side pull to be created by Branding and awareness.
