UIET organizes two-day workshop on virtual labs

JAMMU, Aug 8: University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) in collaboration with IIT Roorkee organized a two-day workshop on virtual labs for its students and faculty.
The training program was conducted by Sandeep Raj (Nodal Coordinator of Virtual Labs) from UIET under the patronage of Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. The resource persons were Chetan and Jasbir Singh, Project Associates from IIT Roorkee.
The objective of the workshop was to familiarize the students with the learning management system including various tools of learning, web resources, animated demonstrations and self-evaluation besides imparting hands-on training to students through virtual labs which enable them to perform any experiment on their mobiles and laptops.
Sushant Gagal gave an overview of the program. The training session started with the introduction of virtual labs which is an initiative of the Ministry of Education under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology and it was followed by experimental demonstration for Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering.
Resource persons discussed ways to transform teaching using virtual labs and explained how virtual labs could be effective for students and faculty members. The students from UIET and Kathua campus were trained to use virtual labs to perform various experiments in different disciplines of engineering and also how to create new experiments and upload on the virtual labs portal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Susheel Kumar Sharma (Coordinator UIET) remarked that online education has witnessed a significant transformation during the past few years in terms of learning methods and techniques.
Rector, Kathua campus, Dr Meenakshi Kilam provided support in the successful conduct of the workshop. The workshop was attended by Komal Khadotra, Pankaj Khajuria (AR), Dr Sourabh Shastri, Amit Sharma, Rakshit Khajuria, Sarvdaman Sharma, Rajan Verma and other faculty members of UIET and Kathua Campus.
