JAMMU, May 28: Alleging poor facilities and services, Under Graduate students of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today locked the college canteen forcefully.
According to the reports, the students have complained of poor services including serving of unhygienic food a number of times to the authorities but neither the contractor of the canteen did anything to improve the services nor the College authorities take any action against him.
Even there was not proper arrangement of fans and air conditioners, which the students alleged was included in the terms of the contract. Therefore, the agitating students first staged a brief demonstration in the canteen and then locked it forcefully.
Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, confirmed the incident. He said that the students’ issue is genuine and it will be addressed. “I will talk to the contractor and ensure that proper services are provided to the students,” he added.
