Udhami Mitra scheme to be implemented effectively: Prakash

JAMMU, Apr 11: Minister of Industries & Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga today held a review meeting of SICOP at Udyog Bhawan and said that Udhami Mitra scheme would be effectively implemented in J&K so that more youth are motivated to start their own ventures and earn livelihood.
R L Tickoo, Managing Director SICOP gave a power point presentation about achievement of SICOP and areas of activities in assisting and boosting small scale industrial sector.
The Minister was informed that during 2014-15, SICOP achieved a turnover of Rs 862.00 crore and   after accounting all expenditures including statutory liabilities has earned a cash surplus of Rs. 1.33 crore. The Managing Director, informed that SICOP has established its   offices & sub-depots in all the districts of the State to facilitate the raw material needs and marketing of end products of SSI units at their doorstep.
Appreciating the functioning and achievements of SICOP, the Minister for Industries & Commerce called upon the management to become Udhami Mitras/Nodal Officers so that more young people are motivated to start their own ventures.
The Udhami Mitra is a hand holding scheme for creating awareness among the prospective entrepreneurs interested in establishing their own service/manufacturing unit by providing them necessary guidelines with regard to registration, selection of schemes, preparation of project report, seeking loans and advances from banks and financial institutions and also with regard to other related matters as may be necessary in establishing and successfully running their units.  The Minister directed the officers to provide hassle free service to the SSI units so that more and more young people may be attracted to start their industrial ventures. This will not only provide job to the unemployed youth but also create and generate employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled workforce.
The meeting was also attended by Sajad Ahmad Khan, Special Secretary, I&C Department besides all officers of SICOP.
