“The reason behind the crash is being ascertained,” and inquiry has been initiated into the mishap.
“We have received the report about UAV crash in forest area near Rajbagh and police team has been dispatched to the spot for details,” Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Kathua said.
Meanwhile, a team of Air Force from Air Base Pathankot led by a Wing Commander has also reached the spot to ascertain the reasons of the crash. They, however, ruled out any sabotage and said that the crash was due to technical snag.
The UAV had taken off from Technical Airport Jammu and after reaching near Ladoli village, it suddenly crashed and also caught fire at 2.45 am this morning but there was no loss of life or property.
AIR Force and Police team took the wreckage of UAV into their control for examination. The local people said that they heard the noise of UAV crash at around 2.45 am and found its wreckage in the morning hours.
As per report, the UAV lost contact with Air Force at village Khanpur in Hiranagar Sector at 2 am. The local police was informed about it by Air Force authorities. A police team from the Rajbagh Police Station rushed to Khanpur area and started search operation. But police did not get any clue about the same.
It later flashed the message to nearby police post to seek information.  A team of Air Force from Pathankot also started search through monitoring system. Ultimately they located the forest area of Nadoli village as some villagers had noticed the UAV movement and crash after that. The UAV caught fire after crash and the engine part was burnt. But the rainfall in the area prevented the fire from spreading further in the forest.
