UAE intercepts 2 Iranian UAVs, says air defences fully active

ABU DHABI, May 10: The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defence today said that its air defence systems successfully intercepted and engaged two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran.

The ministry said that since the beginning of what it described as “blatant Iranian attacks”, UAE air defences have intercepted a total of “551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,265 UAVs.”

Authorities reported that no deaths or injuries occurred in the past several hours.

However, since the start of the attacks, the total number of fatalities has reached 12, including two Emirati martyrs and a Moroccan civilian contractor working with the armed forces.

Officials also said the total number of civilian injuries has reached 230, involving individuals of various nationalities.

The Ministry of Defence said that it “remains fully prepared to respond to any threats” and will “take firm action against any attempt to undermine the country’s security, sovereignty, and stability.”
