JAMMU, May 31: Three persons including two teenagers were killed in road accidents at different locations overnight.
As per reports, two teenagers died on the spot when their scooter was hit by an unknown vehicle late last night opposite Asia crossing in Gandhi Nagar area.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where after conducting autopsy today, the bodies were handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased were identified as Sourav Kumar Bali (19), son of Davinder Kumar Bali and Aman Bali (17), son of Hardev Bali, both residents of Gandhi Nagar.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and manhunt has been launched to apprehend the absconding driver.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and another sustained critical injuries when the motorcycle they were riding on collided with an Army truck at Barjani area of Bari Brahmana.
Reports said that an Army truck hit a bike bearing registration number JK02AP-217 at Barjani, Bari-Brahmana, resulting into on the spot death of one and critical injuries to pillion rider.
After hitting the bike, the driver of Army truck managed to flee alongwith the vehicle, which evoked protest from relatives of the deceased, who started protesting against the Army by blocking the vehicular movement near Bari-Brahmana on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway. The protestors were demanding immediate arrest of the accused driver.
The youth who hailed from RS Pura area were returning to village Maheen Sarkar after attending the cremation of their relative.
On getting information, SDPO Bari Brahmana Shahzad Salaria rushed to the spot and ensured the seizure of Army truck and arrest of erring driver. On the assurance of SDPO, the protestors lifted the dharna and vehicular movement was restored on the National Highway.
Later, SDPO took up the matter with the higher authorities of the Army and the driver identified as Naik Ram Inder Singh of 15 Raj Rifle was arrested. The vehicle was also seized.
The body of the deceased identified as Pawan Kumar (40), son of Puran Chand, a resident of Chak Islam, RS Pura was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), for autopsy and other legal formalities, whereas, the injured namely Pawan Kumar son of Rattan Lal resident of Kollein in R S Pura was admitted in GMC Hospital for treatment.
A case under FIR number 70/14 under Section 279 and 304-A has been registered at police station Bari-Brahmana and investigation started.
