Two shopkeepers arrested for selling illicit liquor

JAMMU, June 11: In order to eradicate the menace of selling of illicit liquor, Akhnoor police arrested two shopkeepers.
As per police sources, a team from Akhnoor police station during patrolling in Naiwala area developed an information that some shopkeepers are indulged in selling illicit liquor.
Acting over the information, police team conducted raids in three shops and recovered 82 pouches of illicit liquor.
Police arrested two shopkeepers, while one of the accused escaped from the spot.
The arrested persons have been identified as Gurvider Singh, son of Sardar Singh and Rashpal Singh, son of Kaka Singh, both residents of Devipur. One of the accused, who managed to escape from the spot, has been identified as Amarnath, son of Dewan Chand of Dalpat Bhor.
A case under FIR Number 117/17 has been registered at Akhnoor police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pushpinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Munish Anand and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
