JAMMU, Mar 11: With the arrest of both the accused, City Police today claimed to have solved the brutal murder of Raju Giri alias Chikna Baba, whose chopped body was recovered from Tawi water near old bridge on March 9.
According to SSP Jammu Atul Goel, the murder was result of internal rivalry among the “Sadhus” who were engaged in drug peddling.
The accused have been identified as Sarwan Pandey alias Mahant Veer Giri alias Sita Ram Baba of Lakshman Qila Ayodhya, UP, at present occupant of Bhoot Nath Temple on Tawi bank and his associate Mohd Salim Khan alias Ravi Giri alias Baltal Baba of Kaliyar Sharief, Roorkee, Uttarakhand.
Confessing the crime, the accused led the Police to the spot where the murder and chopping of dead body was committed. Police has recovered the weapon of offence, ash of the burnt clothes of the deceased and some cash also, the SSP added.
Blood stains of the deceased on the spot were also got examined by an FSL team.
As reported earlier, chopped body parts of Chikna Baba alias Raju Giri were recovered from Tawi Water on March 9 following which a case in this connection was registered at Nowabad Police Station.
Meanwhile, a Police team of PP Rehari arrested a drug peddler and seized intoxicants from his possession.
The accused, identified as Ajay Kumar of Old Rehari Jammu, was intercepted during a surprise naka at Old Rehari. 90 capsules of Paravon Spas were recovered from his possession. Police has registered a case under NDPS Act in this connection.
In another case, Kanhachak Police today arrested four gamblers and recovered Rs 630 as stake money from them. The accused were identified as Kaku Ram, Raj Kumar, Kaku Ram and Mela Ram of Galwady Chak.
