RAMBAN, May 9: Continuing its special drive against the drug peddlers, Patnitop police today arrested two narcotic smugglers along with poppy straw.
As per police sources, police team from police post Patnitop laid a naka and intercepted a Jammu bound Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK02AP-0398.
During checking, police recovered 3.300 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested two persons, who have been identified as driver Liaqat Ali, son of Munshi Ram of Kandi, district Rajouri and Kadir, son of Mohammad Sharief of Bakori, district Rajouri. The vehicle was also seized on the spot.
A case under FIR number 48/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge police post Patnitop SI Ankuj Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of Mohammad Rafiq, DySP Headquarters Ramban and Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban.
