Two more Monks among 8 die of Corona in Leh, 2 in Jammu

JAMMU/LEH, Nov 26: In fresh surge in COVID-19 cases in Leh district of Union Territory of Ladakh, eight casualties have been reported in the district since last evening including two Monks apart from 109 fresh cases, 101 in Leh and eight in Kargil district.
Jammu region reported two Corona casualties and 232 new cases while 183 persons recovered from the virus.
Ishey Angchuk, 82 and Lobzang Tsering, 80, both Monks of Spituk Monastery in Leh died of Coronavirus today. A 45-year-old woman from Chuchot Gongma Leh also succumbed to the virus.
Three days before, one Monk had died in Leh. With this, three Monks have died of virus during last four days.
Five more COVID casualties in Leh were also locals. However, four of them were co-morbid too.
Eight Corona casualties in Leh have taken the UT’s death count to113—72 in Leh and 41 in Kargil while 109 cases took Corona tally to 8228. The UT now has 961 active positive cases while 7154 others have recovered from the virus.
Former Congress MLA Indu Pawar and her husband DS Pawar today tested positive for the virus in Jammu.
A 40-year-old woman from Bakore Jourian in Akhnoor area of Jammu district died of multiple ailments and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College Jammu while 72-year-old man from Karan Nagar died of virus at home.
Among 232 positive cases in Jammu region, 111 were reported from Jammu district, 28 Udhampur, 25 Kathua, 19 Doda, 15 Kishtwar, 12 Samba, nine Reasi, seven Ramban, five Rajouri and one in Poonch district.
Of 183 positive cases who recovered from the virus today, 110 belonged to Jammu district followed by 23 Samba, 19 Udhampur, 11 Rajouri, nine Kathua, five Kishtwar, three Poonch, two Doda and one in Ramban district. No recoveries were reported from Reasi district.
Jammu region now has 43321 Corona cases. Among them, 2030 are active positives while 40717 have recovered from the virus. There have been 574 casualties in the region including 294 in Jammu district, 53 Doda, 49 Rajouri, 46 Udhampur, 36 Kathua, 31 Samba, 22 Poonch, 18 Ramban, 16 Kishtwar and nine in Reasi district.
