Two more Amarnath yatris dies during pilgrimage, toll 8

SRINAGAR:  Two more yatris from Gujarat and Bihar died due to cardiac arrest during pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

With the a total of 7 pilgrims and an officer of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have died since the commencement of the 40 day long yatra from June 29 from both shortest Baltal and traditiional Pahalgam tracks.

A 57-year-old Patil Popad Lal, a resident of Gujarat and Ravinder Kumar (58), son of late Kedar Nath, resident of Patna Bihar, sufered massive cardiac arrest at Panjterni on traditional Pahalgam track.

Both were rushed to medical camps where they were declared brought dead.

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has already hiked the insurance cover of registered pilgrims and service providers from Rs one lakh to Rs three lakhs from this year.

However, unregistered yatris and service providers would not be covered under the scheme. (AGENCIES)
