Two killed in road mishaps

JAMMU, May 7: Two persons were killed today in separate road mishaps in outskirts of this winter capital of the State.
According to the reports, a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02E-4258 was on its way from Udhampur to Jammu when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a 300 feet deep gorge near Samadhi Morh, village Bunn at old National Highway, this morning. In the mishap, the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Pawan Kumar (55) son of Brij Nath, a resident of Subhash Nagar, got killed on the spot.
On getting information from locals, a police team headed by SHO police station Nagrota, Inspector Vinod Kumar Kundal under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan reached the spot and retrieved the body of the deceased car driver from the gorge and shifted it to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where after conducting postmortem the body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Other mishap occurred this evening on Jammu-Akhnoor Road near HP Gas Agency, Mishriwala, where a speeding Tempo bearing registration number JK02AS-6503 hit a scooty (having registration number JK02BJ-3904) and seriously injured its rider namely Tarsem Lal (50) son of Amar Chand, a resident of Hirachak, Halka Marh.
The locals immediately shifted the injured person to GMCH Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting postmortem tomorrow. The concerned police has registered a case in this regard and launched a manhunt to arrest the accused driver, who managed to flee from the spot.
