Two killed in road accidents

JAMMU, July 27: One person was killed today in a road accident in Paloura area of Jammu while another was crushed to death by a truck in Bari-Brahmana area of Samba district.
According to police sources, a woman pedestrian namely Darshna Devi (40) wife of AS Slathia, resident of Gurha Brahmana (Patoli, Jammu) was hit and seriously injured by a truck bearing registration number JK14B-9082 at Paloura, opposite to BSF Camp gate, this morning.
The injured woman was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu by the truck driver identified as Joginder Lal son of Gulabo Ram, resident of Chabrechak (Marh) but the doctors declared the woman as brought dead. Later, the truck driver surrendered himself to Domana police which arrested him and seized his vehicle.
After postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal rites while a case FIR number 203/2021 was registered in this connection at police station Domana.
Meanwhile, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK02AU-6569 hit and crushed to death a pedestrian namely Buta Ram son of Dhanna Ram, resident of Gho Brahmana (Samba) at SIDCO Chowk, Bari-Brahmana and escaped from the spot after committing the crime but an alert team of police station Bari-Brahmana chased the vehicle and successfully caught the driver identified as Ranjeet Singh along with his vehicle.
The body of the deceased was shifted to nearby Government hospital for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Bari-Brahmana and further investigation started.
