Two killed, 7 injured in road accidents

Srinagar, Oct 10: Two persons were killed while seven others were injured in two separate road accidents in Kupwara and Anantnag districts.
A police spokesman said a Tata-Magic vehicle collided with a tipper bearing registration number JK01A-1554 at tutigund along National Highway in north Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district, resulting in injuries to eight commuters.
“All the injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Handwara for treatment, where two of the injured identified as Bashir Ahmad Mandoo and Ayan Ahmad Khan Kupwara succumbed to their injuries,” said the spokesman, adding that other injured persons were referred to Srinagar Hospital for further treatment.
The spokesman said a Sumo bearing registration number JK01N/0590 driven by Zahid Rashid Wani hit a motorcycle driven by Amir Ahmad Thokar at Kehribal village of Mattan area of Anantnag district, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist. “The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard,” he added.
