RAJOURI, Mar 2: Two persons were killed while 12 others injured, two of them seriously when a mini-bus met with an accident in remote Budhal area of district Rajouri today.
Official sources said that the mishap took place when the mini-bus bearing registration No. JK11- 0136, turned turtle near Kewal village, a few kilometers short of Budhal.
Immediately after accident, the locals of the area rushed to the spot. The police party from Budhal also reached there and they shifted the injured to CHC Kandi (Kotranka). The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot after accident. Some of the injured alleged that mishap took place due to the negligence of driver.

BMO Kandi, Dr Iqbal Malik said that 12 injured persons were received at Community Health Centre Kandi, and two succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital. He said out of the injured at Kandi, two were later referred to GMC Hospital, Rajouri.
The deceased have been identified as Shakil Ahmed of Kewal and Badar Hussain of Kandi village. Their dead bodies were handed over to the respective families after postmortem.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Amin (50), Sadam Hussain (30), Mohd Hafeez, Bagoo Begum (50), Mohd Irfan (30), Abdul Rashid (50), Pushpa Devi (18), Billo Begum (61), Zahida Begum (60), Parveen Akhter (40), Sobia Kouser (18) and Shahida Begum (45)-all hailing from Budhal area.
Those referred to GMC are identified as Mohd Hafiz and Mohd Irfan, The driver of the vehicle was also later arrested, the police said.
An FIR No. 15/ 2023 has been registered at Police Station Budhal for investigation.
Meanwhile, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Rajouri.
In a condolence message, the Lt Governor said, “I send my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and wish those injured a speedy recovery. I have issued instructions to the District Administration Rajouri to provide all necessary assistance to the affected persons.”
