Two J&K writers selected for Sahitya Akademi Award

JAMMU, June 25: Two prominent writers from Jammu & Kashmir have been selected for prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for Translation for the year 2021.
The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the Executive Board of the Akademi held on June 24 at New Delhi under the chairmanship of its president Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar.
Writer Piarey Hatash has been selected for the prestigious award for his translation book ‘Tawi Aend Peak’ in Kashmiri. He translated Dogri Kahaniyan (short stories) written by various authors into Kashmiri.
Similarly, the award was announced for writer Dr Neelam Sarin for her translation book ‘Pakistan Di Hakikat Kanne Ru-Ba-Ru’, which is the Dogri translation of Hindi book ‘Pakistan Ki Hakikat Se Ru-Ba-Ru’, written by renowned author from J&K Satish Verma.
The Award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and an inscribed copper plaque.
Reacting on the announcement of the Translation Award for his book (original) ‘Pakistan Ki Hakikat Se Ru-Ba-Ru’, writer Satish Verma expressed happiness and congratulated Dr Neelam Sarin for her achievement.
