JAMMU, Mar 15: Two individuals were arrested from Sidhra area here with 500 grams of heroin-like-substance worth approximately Rs 60 lakh.
Addressing media persons here, SP Rural, Brijesh Sharma said that on March 14 night, two suspects were stopped for checking at Batra Chowk area of Sidhra but they tried to escape on seeing the police.
He said they were chased by a police team and during search of their belongings, 500 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, the accused identified as Bagh Hussain and Mohammad Mansha of RS Pura, were arrested and booked in case FIR number 88/2024 Under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota, the SP Rural said.
According to the police officer, the value of the heroin is around Rs 50-60 lakh in the drug market.
“Further investigation has been initiated into the case to probe the backward and forward linkages,” said SP Rural, Brijesh Sharma.
The entire operation involving arrest and seizure of the narcotics was conducted by a team of Police Post Sidhra led by Incharge Police Post, SI Arun Sharma, under the supervision of SHO Nagrota, Rajeshwar Singh, SDPO Nagrota, Aakash Kohli, and SP Rural, Brijesh Sharma.
