KATHUA, May 23: Police in Kathua District claimed today that they have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 82.47 grams of heroinfrom their possession, commonly known as Chitta.
A police spokesperson said that a team from the Hiranagar Police Station led by Inspector Amit Sangra, SHO Hiranagar, under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Border, Dheeraj Singh Katoch, was on patrolling duty near Dinga Amb.
During their patrol, he said, they noticed the suspicious movement of a motorcycle, a Pulsar-220 F, bearing registration number JK14F-4332.
“The rider of the motorcycle identified as Sanjay Kumar of Nakki Majalta, Udhampur, and pillion rider, Sukhdev Singh of Khoon, Tehsil Majalta, Udhampur were signalled to stop,” he further said.
The police spokesperson said that during the search of the suspects, police recovered 82.47 grams of the heroin.
The accused have been arrested in case FIR number 76/2023 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Hiranagar and further investigation taken up.
